Buy your tickets today to attend the Epidemiology & Prevention of Vaccine-Preventable Diseases Conference presented by immunization experts at the Center for Disease Control (CDC). This two-day course will be held at the Hotel Murano in Tacoma, WA and will offer continuing education credits. Local public health staff are also invited to attend a half-day immunization update the day before this conference on September 26th.*

*Note: The half-day public health update is open to local health jurisdiction immunization program staff to discuss contract activities and other immunization projects.  This meeting is not a shorter course or update for the two day training.

Course Overview:
Faculty from CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases will present a live 2-day comprehensive overview of the principles of vaccination, general recommendations, immunization strategies for providers, and specific information about vaccine-preventable diseases and the vaccines that prevent them.

TARGET AUDIENCE:  Physicians, nurses,  nursing students, medical assistants, pharmacists, and other health professionals who provide immunizations.

OBJECTIVES:  At the conclusion of the session, the participant will be able to accomplish the following:

• Describe the difference between active and passive immunity.
• List two characteristics of live attenuated vaccines.
• List two characteristics of inactivated vaccines.
• For each vaccine-preventable disease, identify those for whom routine immunization is recommended.
• For each vaccine-preventable disease, describe characteristics of the vaccine used to prevent the disease.
• Describe an emerging immunization issue.

Early Bird registration ($185.00 per person) is available until August 1, 2011.

After that time, registration fees will increase to $225 per person. Online registration will be accepted through 5pm (Pacific Time) September 15, 2011.

Registration fees will cover continental breakfast and buffet lunch September 27 and 28. Each registrant will also receive a copy of The Pink Book.

Refund Policy:

Refunds will be issued at 75% of your registration fee up until Friday, August 26th. After that time, no refunds will be allowed. Substitutions may be allowed. Please contact Mackenzie Melton to request a substitution.
